Despite that, Adolphe's frown deepens and he looks like he's actively trying to resist it. It doesn't really help when the shattered glass around him reflect his own memories of warmth—when young Adolphe acts brotherly to a sad, young girl, being the responsible one while quietly wishing to die and choosing the orphanage as his ideal place to pass away. Ali isn't strong. He can't fight away the demons that haunt people. But he can still do something, even if he's not sure how that 'something' will be received.
So as he gets within sword range of Adolphe, he's going to try side-stepping the sword and going in to try and pull Adolphe into a tight hug. The horrors might persistent, but he has it on good authority that hugs are good at keeping the horrors quiet for a little while.]
